About B Ed Colleges
Presidency College of Education for Girls was established in the year 2007 with the mission of providing quality education to trainee teachers through the B. Ed courses. Along with a sound theoretical base, the students are given a wide exposure to practical work. The B. Ed. students are sent to various schools of the city for their teaching practice programme.
B Ed Admissions
A candidate applying for admission to the B. Ed. course must have passed the degree examination (BA/ B. Sc/ B. Com) of any recognized University with a minimum of 50% and also qualified in the Ed. CET Examination.
B Ed Student Intake
The annual intake of students for the B. Ed course is 100.
Infrastructure
The College is in a spacious building, with a total area of 50,000 sft. There are spacious classrooms, a big seminar hall equipped with modern audio-visual equipment, a library-cum-reading room and well equipped laboratories, and a computer Lab.
Library
The library subscribes to newspapers, magazines and journals (National and International) which contain articles on topics of general interest and subjects of instruction. Library resources are constantly upgraded to match the needs of the faculty and students.
The College has a well-stocked library. Apart from books covering subjects of instruction, the library has an impressive collection of reference books as well. These include encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlases, classics and books of general knowledge and Islamic history. In addition, a number of books published by the National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT) are also available.
Laboratories
There are spacious laboratories for mathematics, science, psychology, social studies, and educational technology. All the laboratories are well equipped to develop various skills in the trainee teachers.
Attendance
Attendance and punctuality are a part of professional responsibility essential for teachers. The minimum requirement of attendance is 80% in each theory subject and practical work. In case of sickness 10% attendance will be condoned on medical grounds provided a medical certificate issued by Registered Medical Practitioner is submitted.
